While many of my photos feature the architecture of historic churches in New Mexico, Beckie Irvin Studio acknowledges the complex and often painful history associated with these structures. The American Southwest has a legacy of colonization, forced assimilation, and cultural suppression, particularly affecting Indigenous and marginalized communities. Through my work, I aim to capture the beauty of these places while also honoring the resilience and cultural heritage of those who have endured this history.
