Exploring Texas Pastures

One of my favorite things to do is grab some water and my camera and explore the pastures of my Texas home. My dogs are pretty fond of our adventures too!

All of the fossils below are from the Crestaceous period, making them around 66-144 million years old!

Back then, Texas was underwater and the Western Interior Seaway stretched from the ARTIC ocean to the GULF of Mexico.
Many species of shellfish and sea dinosaurs lived in the shallow waters of what is now Texas and that is why fossilized shells and dino footprints can be found in areas all over the state.

If you’re interested in fossil identification, follow me on Instagram for sporadic geology lessons!
